Bridge Load Rating

Definition: The maximum allowable locomotive or railcar tonnage that can safely cross a bridge without exceeding safe stress limits. Load rating is determined by detailed engineering analysis and physical inspection.

Beispiel: Bridge rated for 34-tonne axle loads permits standard freight cars
