Sydney Metro’s Western Sydney Airport project achieves a construction milestone with the installation of three 61-tonne diamond beams at Orchard Hills Station, utilizing the project’s largest mobile crane to date for this critical structural operation.
Technical Specifications
Diamond Beam Installation:
Three 61-tonne structural beams measuring nearly 20 meters in length were precisely positioned across the station box, providing essential structural bracing for station walls and future system integration.
Crane Operations:
The 750-tonne mobile crane represents the largest lifting capacity deployed on the project to date, demonstrating the scale and precision required for major structural installations.
Future Integration:
Structural steel will be installed to the beam undersides to accommodate essential station systems including lighting, PA speakers, CCTV, and passenger information displays.
