State Highway 25A update: Workers continue to make great progress on the new bridge we’re building over the slip on SH25A in Coromandel, where the road collapsed during the storms earlier this year.

Last week they began securing the side barriers to the bridge, which you can see in the top photo below. Over half of the barriers have now been secured, and the rest will be done this week.

On the eastern approach to the bridge, workers have started connecting the road to the bridge, along with installing drainage (the second photo below). On the western approach to the bridge, the bridge’s earthquake resistance features have now been completed, and work has also begun to connect the road to the bridge.

Meanwhile, the team has started installing mesh to stabilise a steep section of the slip (the third photo below), and work continues on drainage below the bridge.

Announced recently, the road will reopen by 20 December 2023—to get updates as we get closer to opening, sign up on our website: https://lnkd.in/gYhNnNtU

Latest newsletter has a great interview with Alison Craigie, the project engineer responsible for the bridge deck and the bridge’s support columns (the piers). Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/d3Pm8RgQ
