What a weekend on the railway!
Teams from across the organisation were spread far and wide across multiple rail networks, taking on a packed programme of works that included reconnaissance (recon) surveys, rerailing, culvert repairs and tamping — and delivered on every front.
Wellers Road Reconstruction The first site to kick off was Wellers Road on Friday night, where teams completed 140 metres of 1,350mm deep reconstruction across two tracks, plus a total of 338 metres of skim recon outside of the formation works. The scope also included the installation of drainage channels to address a critical section of the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) network. A few challenges emerged as works approached completion, but with drainage and subgrade issues resolved, this section is now set for long-term reliable performance. A special thanks to Nate and the ARTC team for their support throughout the weekend.
Culvert Repairs at Campbelltown The civil teams were equally busy with culvert repair works at Campbelltown. Despite some early impacts to the programme, the team worked closely with Sydney Trains client representatives on site to develop practical solutions and achieve an excellent outcome.
Rerailing and Defect Removal The rerailing team travelled south to complete not only the rerail itself but also 24 closures required to remove defects from the network — a remarkable effort over a single weekend possession window.
