Rail Systems Alliance Scotland team has been working round the clock during the festive period replacing 386 metres of rail, sleepers, ballast and formation at Calton Tunnel South and replacing 575 metres of rail, sleepers, ballast and formation at Broomhouse. Powderhall saw the team removing an old S&C crossing unit no longer required and replacing it by laying 98 metres of new rail, sleepers and ballast in its place.
Rail Systems Alliance Scotland was also carrying out drainage works throughout the festive period, 2094 metres of jet and vac and removal of 720 metres of scrap rail at Haymarket South Tunnel. 412 metres of cess drainage was installed and 30 metres of concrete canvas was also installed at Bathgate to improve flow through an existing ditch.
