A Jackson team is making good progress lifting in the bridge beams on the A249 Grovehurst Road and interchange junction improvement scheme near Sittingbourne.
The lifting started in the early hours of Saturday morning – a 750 tonne crane is being used to lift the 45 metre-long beams in pairs, each pair weighing 72 tonnes.
Jackson subcontractor Nusteel is overseeing the lifting operation, which, if conditions remain favourable, should see all eight beams in place by the end of the weekend.
The multi-million pound scheme to improve the Grovehurst Road and A249 junction will replace the existing “dumbbell” junction with a two-bridge flyover and is being constructed on behalf of Kent County Council.
