Chile – Line 6 extension progress, Metro Santiago expansion, Melipilla train connection

Government officials conducted an on-site inspection of the western extension of Line 6 today. The delegation included:

• Juan Carlos Muñoz, Minister of Transport and Telecommunications

• Guillermo Muñoz, President of Metro

• Johnny Yáñez, Mayor

The group toured the station shaft, which has now reached an impressive depth of 26 meters.

Project Highlights:

• 3 kilometers of new rail infrastructure

• New station connecting with EFE’s Melipilla Train

• Expected to benefit over 90,000 daily commuters

• Projected to reduce travel times by up to 85%

This extension represents a significant step forward in improving Santiago’s connectivity and public transportation network.
