A monumental day at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway as volunteers & contractors landed the new 50-ton bridge across the Bridgehouse Beck, the biggest civil engineering project the railway has ever undertaken.

The Bridge 27 Renewal Project began at the beginning of the week. Within seconds of the last train passing over the bridge, volunteers started removing four track sections.

The Bahamas Locomotive Society’s 50-ton steam crane helped remove the old bridge spans before excavation and preparation of the pile caps got underway.
