2024 Reflections – Big Progress at Pyrmont Station

A Year of Transformation on the Eastern Tunnelling Package

The Sydney Metro – Pyrmont Station site experienced major changes throughout 2024, with significant progress made both above and below ground.

  • Two acoustic sheds are now fully installed

  • Excavation of the East and West shafts is well underway

Cavern Excavation in Full Swing

  • Three roadheaders — Liliana, Savannah, and Bella — are actively carving out the station cavern

  • Once complete, the cavern will measure:

    • 170 metres long

    • 24 metres wide

    • 18 metres high

A Personal Touch to Progress

🧐 Fun fact: The roadheaders have been named after the daughters of three team members — bringing a personal and human touch to a massive infrastructure project.

This progress marks an exciting chapter in the delivery of the Eastern Tunnelling Package for Sydney Metro West, bringing the city one step closer to a faster and more connected future.
