The double TBM breakthrough marks a milestone achievement for the Sydney Metro West – Western Tunnelling Package and the Gamuda Australia and Laing O’Rourke. TBM Betty and Dorothy have completed the first leg of their tunnelling journey from Clyde to Sydney Olympic Park, excavating approximately 857,500 tonnes of spoil and installing more than 32,600 concrete precast segments along the 4.6-kilometre new twin metro tunnels.
The breakthroughs represent another significant project milestone for the GLC team. The progress to date is a testament to the collective efforts of our entire team, from the Surface Works, Safety, Design, Tunnelling teams and more.
